City of Flagstaff: Waste Minimization Intern July 2018- February 2019
Authored a grant with NAU to investigate waste diversion in the construction & demolition industry. Created a pilot project to divert concrete, cinder blocks, and brick waste at the Cinder Lake Landfill. Organized over 45 stakeholder meetings to successfully evaluate potential diversion projects.
Dooley Disposal Services: Conservation Officer Summer 2016 & 2017
Trained all sales representatives regarding company and state policies regarding municipal waste. Facilitated on-site visits of local recycling centers and transfer station for company evaluation. Received two independent study credits upon completing internship at USU.
USU Student Sustainability Office: Outreach & Marketing Intern Fall 2015
Arranged and delivered over 35 presentations about USU’s Sustainability Grant program. Implemented and hosted a weekly hour-long grant writing lab and brainstorming workshop. Facilitate $25,000 in grant proposals written and implemented by students.
USU Sustainability Council: Waste & Recycling Intern Fall 2014- Spring 2015
Assisted in reaching USU’s waste and recycling goals to increase waste diversion from 24% to 35% by FY 2016, and reduce waste by 3% by FY 2016, from a FY 2012 baseline. Prepared, facilitated, and executed projects for RecycleMania which included writing two grants. Coordinated the location of 300 new sets of recycling bins throughout USU campus.
